SALCRA TO DEVELOP LAND WITH OIL PALM IN ENGKELILI

ENGKILILI – The State Government through the Sarawak Land Consolidation and Rehabilitation Authority (SALCRA) will develop idle land belonging to 14 land owners in the Engkelili area in the very near future.

Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Alfred Jabu Numpang said the land were located in the Kandis, Ulu Kumpang, Soh, Seramat, Sayat, Bukit Tungku, Danau dan Bangkong areas.
“The government is very satisfied that the 14 landowners are willing to develop their land commercially so a team of surveyors will come to survey the land to be turned into oil palm plantation by SALCRA,” he told reporters after attending a Leader Meet- the- People session held at Rumah Dundang, Kandis, near here today.

He was optimistic that the project would uplift the landowners living standard in the years to come and besides that, there would also other aspects of development such as roads and electricity supply which would be implemented in the same areas, he added.
Jabu, who is also the Minister for Infratsructure development and Communication and Minister for Rural Development believed that more and more landowners were receptive to commercial land developement due to its long term benefit.

“So far, SALCRA has paid RM70 million worth of dividens to the land participants in Lubok Antu since 30 years ago, he said.-ENDS
