HARDIN REITERATES: NO INSTANT NOODLE PROJECTS IN LUBOK ANTU

LUBOK ANTU, Tues- Assistant Minister of Land Development, Datuk Francis Hardin anak Hollis reaffirms the promise by the government that it will not implement the ”instant noodle“ projects in the Batang Ai constituency just to get the people’s support in the April 7 polling.

Speaking at the dialogue session held at the Chinese Temple held here last night, he said the government would do what was necessary for the people so that they would remain in the mainstream of development.

It was the government’s responsibility to see that the people regardless of who and where they were would get the government’s attention, he added.

Later, the Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for Batang Ai seat, Malcom Mussen Lamoh assured that the minority Chinese in Batang Ai would not be neglected by the government in its development programme.
Equal attention would be given by the government to them to ensure that they enjoy the benefits just like any other communities in the state, he told the more than 100 people who attended the dialogue.

Also present were the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Central Working Committee members Datuk Alfred Yap Chin Loi, Sih Hua Tong, and local Chinese community leaders

The by-election is called for following the death of the four-term State Assemblyman Datuk Dublin Unting Ingkot on February 24.

Newcomer, former Agriculture Department’s engineer Mussen, 49, of the Barisan Nasional (BN) will face Parti Keadilan Rakyat’s (PKR), Jawah Gerang in a straight fight for the Batang Ai constituency.

Mussen said he was nominated by the party leaders to contest the seat to serve the people irrespective of their races and he would use his experience as a government officer to ensure that the people would benefit by supporting him.

A total of 274 of the 2408 Chinese community in the constituency are registered voters.
